This was my first book by this author and holy cow! By chapter 10, I was convinced I had solved the mystery. Boy was I wrong.
Tricia and her husband, Ethan, get snowed in at the house of the missing Dr. Adrienne Hale. No cell service, old house in the middle of nowhere, and things that bump in the night. They are stuck here for several days, so Ethan busies himself with work while Tricia passes time listening to the tapes of Dr. Hale's recorded patient sessions. By the end, we find out what really happened to Dr. Hale. We also find out some secrets of the young couple snowed in at the house.
I could not put this book down. I finished it in a weekend. I had heard that I wouldn't figure out the twist, and I didn't! This was a pleasant surprise for me.
I will say, it's been a long time since I read a book that actually scared me. I had hoped to finish it in a night, but knew I had to put it down if I hoped to get any sleep!
I may have to go on a Freida binge after this. I cannot recommend it enough. 5 stars.
