Fatal Voyage by: Kathy Reichs

THIS is the Temperance Brennan story I missed in the last book. We find Tempe in North Carolina helping identify body parts from a plane crash, only to uncover an even bigger mystery.

While I prefer the stories that place her in Canada, it was neat to read about places that I am familiar with. The plan was full of students from UGA. Her investigation takes her to Cherokee and Maggie Valley. I really felt like I could follow her through her investigation.

While I expected more to come of the plane crash, the alternate crime was fascinating. The only thing I would change would be to solve the plane crash faster and focus more on the real crime.

Now, Andrew Ryan...in the last novel, he was undercover, although we weren't sure if he was or if he had gone bad. They quickly let you know in the beginning of this novel that he was, indeed, undercover and he comes to help locate the remains of his partner, who was traveling on the plane that crashed. I feel like there could have been more to the undercover story. We could have been left in suspense longer. But Kathy Reichs knows her characters better than we do.

I do have one spoiler...Tempe is keeping a dog, a chow named Boyd, for her ex-husband, Pete. Boyd gets shot while protecting Tempe. They make it seem as if the dog dies, which quickly brought my rating down to a 4.8 stars. However, we find out at the very end that Boyd is alive and well, as she picks him up from the vet to take him home. This brought the rating right back up to 5 stars.

I LOVE these books. The next one comes out in August, so I will be adding it to my bookshelf. I can't wait to get caught up on this series.

I cannot recommend these books highly enough. If you've read them, let me know what you think!
