-...changing the islanders' minds about us won't help him change the past...
-...did I really not think, even for a second, that Andy might be dead? Or was I easier to search instead of suffer, to obsess instead of mourn?
-...Sobs threaten to tear me apart, to crack me open like an earthquake does the ground...
-..."I kept it too dark in here to see the real darkness..."
-...I want us all to walk out of this house on our n, to look back if we have to, and know that whatever we did to each other inside, we made it out of there together. Alive.
-"We can't restore your life," we say together, "but we strive to restore your memory with this breath."
-...the only way out is to never come back.
If you think your family is strange, you should meet the Lighthouses. They make the Addams Family look like the Brady Bunch. With a dad focuses solely on his sons, who is obsessed with hunting and a mom whose home school curriculum is focused around murder, how would you expect the four Lighthouse children to turn out?
The death of their dad brings Charlie, Tate, and Dahlia Lighthouse home (a word I use loosely). They arrive only to be shocked by a horrifying discovery...their brother, Andy, is dead. And he was buried in their father's plot.
With the mysterious death of their brother and the legend of the Blackburn Serial Killer bringing cops, tourists, and locals to their home, this family has several problems to solve. How do they grieve with so many people inserting themselves into their lives? How do move on from this tragedy? And, the most important questions of all, who killed Andy? And why?
This was the second book for my book club an we could not put it down. We finished it WAY ahead of schedule. I will say, we feel like we need a sequel. We want to see how, or should I say if, this family moves on.
This book has 5 stars for me. I can't wait to hear what you all think about it!
