The Ex Hex by: Erin Sterling

Although I read a variety of genres, I tend to stray more towards suspense/thriller/crime/murder mysteries. However, after my last read I need something a little more upbeat. This novel did not disappoint. I don't remember the last time I read a fantasy novel, but I will be reading more. It was perfect for spooky season and a quick and fun read. The characters were likeable and the plot kept me hooked. I even learned 2 new words, and as anyone who knows me can vouch, I like words. The first word I learned is alacrity which means brisk and cheerful readiness. The second word is a Welsh word, cariad meaning love.

The only complaint I have about this novel is the more...erotic scenes. They felt out of placed, almost like the author was trying to meet a word count.

4 star rating overall. Highly recommend.
