Back Door Horse by: Heather Wallace

I usually don't review books I listen to. I feel like I'm not focusing enough on them to give an adequate review. But this one....holy cow! I was so hooked I couldn't focus on anything else!

The movie Baby Boom has always made me want to live in Vermont. This book made me ready to just pack up and go!

Imogen (pronounced by the narrator as ih-muh-gin, but my Georgia girl mind always changed it to eye-moh-jean) travels to Vermont to help out on her aunt's farm (following her aunt's injury). While in between jobs, she plans to stay long enough for her aunt to heal and then head back to New Jersey to figure things out. However, an encounter with a white moose changes her plans.

From there, she meets and befriends Harper, Bailey, Gabe, and a bay horse named Fortune. She never planned on getting close to any of them, but in the end, they help her make one of the biggest life decisions.

I loved ALL the characters (even the one that was the "mean girl"). They are all relatable and feel so real. I cannot wait for the rest of the series to be published. I can't get enough of these characters.

When I was little, all I read was horse books, my favorites being Heartland and Thoroughbred. I am so glad to have found horse books for adults! I am in my happy place, for sure.

Heather, feel free to just send me ALL of your books. I love your style, your characters, and everything in between. I would love to sit down with you and discuss your books! I can't wait to continue reading your works.

5 stars!
