"Her eyes, which I'd always thought were so beautiful, which had once looked at me with what I'd imagined was love, had become two glittering disks of ice."
This is one book I'm glad I read after I saw the movie. I LOVED the movie, so I thought I would enjoy the book just as much. I was seriously mistaken.
Now, let me say that the author's way of writing was fantastic. However, I felt like this story needed the humor that was in the movie. I felt Stephanie was just annoying and a horrible person. I just didn't like Sean at all. I found myself routing for Emily. Now, I didn't like Stephanie or Sean in the movie, but didn't think Stephanie was horrible until reading the book. I liked Emily in the movie, but wasn't routing for her. But in the book...I was upset when I thought she was about to get caught. I literally held my breath.
I give the last few chapters 5 stars, but overall I give the book 3. It felt like it was missing something (maybe that humor that the movie threw in). I would like to read more of Darcey Bell. As this was her first novel, I can't wait to see what she does next (I would not be opposed of a continuation of just Emily and Nicky's story).
