I was excited to read this book, because I have always wanted Bertha's perspective. I wanted to know how she felt about Edward Rochester and being locked away in an attic. I wanted to know if she was more aware than anyone thought.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars. The only thing that prevents me from giving it five stars is that the second part of the book (second out of three parts) is from Edward's point of view. We already know his feelings about what happened, but the largest part of the book was him. I wanted to know more about Bertha.
The third part of the book, though, had my heart aching for Bertha, who I have always felt bad for anyways.
I watched the movie before I read the book. I wasn't sure what to expect after watching the movie, but I'm glad I gave the book a chance. It was better than the movie.
