I usually like novels by James Patterson, but I was not a fan of this one. It was my first Detective Moncrief novel, but I'm not sure I'll read the others. I felt like the crime was solved way too fast and that the mystery behind his father's death was anticlimactic.

Then there is the relationship with Moncrief and Burke. The fact that they decided to just be friends would have been fine if it wasn't for the constant flirting throughout and then a romantic trip to Paris. It led up to something big and then you had the rug pulled out from under you.

It felt like he was trying too hard to surprise you, but in the end, the surprises don't work because he was leading up to something else.

I'll continue to read James Patterson novels, but I do not recommend this one.
