The Artist's Survival Guide by: James Barbour

First of all, LOVE James Barbour. He is a fantastic performer, with an even more amazing voice. While all I've seen is videos, I hope to see him perform one day.

As an aspiring author and a musician (although not good enough to make a living using it) I found this book inspiring. Throughout college, where I studied English and Music, we were told to be prepared to teach. Even if we were to publish or record, we wouldn't be able to make a living and it was unrealistic to think otherwise.

While there is nothing wrong with publishing or recording and not making it your full time job, we were never taught ways to make it possible. This book, like the tag line says, teaches what we did not learn in school. I underlined, took notes, and felt all the more inspired after reading this book. I have recommended it to ALL of my artist friends and have easy access to it on my bookshelf so I can continue to reference and use it.

Side note: I was excited to be the first to rate and review it on Goodreads.
