I watched the Lifetime movies based on the Cutler series and knew I had to read the books.
The first did not disappoint. It follows Dawn as she transitions from life with the family she has always known to life with her " real" family.
Dawn grew up with loving parents and an older brother. She later welcomed a baby sister. Although her family was constantly moving, she always felt like she had a place within her family. However, she did crave some stability and a place to call home.
After the passing of her mama, it is revealed that she does not belong to the people she always believed to be her parents, but rather to the well-known Cutler family. She is immediately whisked away into a world of riches, secrets, a harsh grandmother, and parents who, well, don't feel as such. She has an older brother and younger sister...this brings along its own set of troubles.
Dawn has a hard time seeing the Cutlers as her family. She never stops referring to the couple that raised her as "mama and daddy" and only refers to her birth parents as "mother and father". And despite always wanting a grandmother, her Grandmother Cutler did not feel that want.
I can't wait to continue the series and see what is in store for Dawn.
